Offaly won the first of four All-Ireland SHC titles in 1981. The next seventeen years Offaly were the most productive in Offaly’s hurling history. Having won their last SHC hurling title in 1998, their most memorable win was in 1994 “five minute final” scoring two goals and five points in the last five minutes to break Limerick hearts and claim their third title. Having won three All-Ireland SFC, their most memorable was in 1982 when trailing by two points in injury time Seamus Darby came on as a substitute and scored one of the most famous goals in GAA history, preventing Kerry’s unprecedented five in a row.
